The Explorer Window

You will navigate the application primarily through the tools in the Explorer Window. The Explorer Window displays the navigation pane and one of the Explorers. The Explorers organize FINANCIALS documents into structured hierarchies and are used to navigate and manage those hierarchies; the navigation pane serves for switching between Explorers. FINANCIALS includes four Explorers: Hierarchy Explorer, Documents Explorer, Report Templates Explorer and Result Sets Explorer.

The Explorer Window

The Explorers work just like Windows Explorer:

  • Clicking on "-" or "+" collapses or expands a node.
  • Double-clicking on a node opens the corresponding document.
  • Right-clicking brings up the context menu with additional options.

To close the Explorer Window, click on Close button. To re-open it, go to View > Dock Panes and select the Navigation Pane option. If you click on the Auto-Hide button Auto-Hide button, the Explorer will be automatically collapsed when you move the cursor away from its pane, and a tab with its name will appear to the left of the Explorer Window. To restore a collapsed Explorer, click on the tab with its name. To cancel auto-hiding, restore the Explorer and click on Restore button.

You can also resize an Explorer by placing the mouse pointer over its border, pressing the left mouse button and dragging the mouse pointer in the required direction.

The navigation pane at the bottom allows you to switch between the Explorers. To open an Explorer, click on its icon.
